Pine Trail Elementary presented a special Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 9, to honor about 60 veterans — students' parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles.
The veterans were welcomed by PTE Principal Charlie Bynum, who said he was excited for them to see the performances students had performed for them.
"I do want to thank you for your service and your dedication, for all you've done for us to provide us this opportunity to have events like this," Bynum said. "Your service is what's done that for us."
The program, titled "A Salute to Veterans" was organized by the Pine Trail PTA and music teacher Denise Ray. It featured a performance of "America the Beautiful" by the PTE Chime Choir and songs performed by students, both inside the media center and outside in the courtyard, where the veterans were honored in a school-wide ceremony. Students presented them with flowers and paraded around the courtyard holding signs expressing their gratitude.
