Palm Coast's recreation impact fee fund exceeded its 2022-2023 fiscal year budget by $1.5 million because construction projects are ahead of schedule.

Financial Services Director Helena Alves said city projects funded by the recreation impact fee fund were ahead of what was budgeted for construction in fiscal year 2023.

"[It's] is a good thing to have when you have ongoing projects," Alves said.

Normally, the costs of the projects carry through into the next fiscal year's budget, she said.

The additional costs total $1,524,912, increasing the total recreation fund budget expenditures from $10.1 million to $11.7 million.

The Palm Coast City Council needed to approve an amendment to the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget, which can be done up to 60 days after the end of a fiscal year. The 2023 fiscal year budget ended Sept. 30.

The council approved the amendment to the 2023 budget in a 4-0 vote, with Palm Coast Mayor David Alfin absent from the meeting.
