Three new pickleball courts have been added to Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park in Ormond-by-the-Sea.
The courts, a county press release stated, were added due to “the rapid growth and popularity of pickleball in the area.”
“Bicentennial Park has always been a hub for the community to get out and enjoy Volusia County,” said Tim Bailey, county parks, recreation and culture director. “The addition of pickleball courts not only expands recreational opportunities but also allows pickleball players to play in a designated space, unique to their sport.”
In addition to the courts at Bicentennial Park, which is located at 1850 Ocean Shore Blvd., the county also opened two new courts in DeLeon Springs. All courts were funded with park impact fees and through the county’s ECHO program, which provides grants for environmental, cultural, historical and outdoor recreation projects.
In October, the city of Ormond Beach also started offering pickleball at the South Ormond Neighborhood Center.
