A Palm Coast man convicted of molesting a young girl over the course of three years starting when she was 6 years old has been sentenced to life in prison.

Circuit Judge Terence Perkins sentenced Monserrate Teron, 59, to two life sentences plus 30 years during a hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Teron's sentences will run concurrently.

“Our Major Case Unit spent countless hours making sure this man will never see the outside of a prison ever again,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in a news release. “Due to their hard work along with the State Attorney’s Office, the victim and their family can hopefully gain some sense of justice that this pervert will never be able to hurt another child or take their innocence away.”

A Flagler County jury found Teron guilty as charged of two counts of Sexual Battery on a Person Less Than 12 Years of Age and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation on a Person Less Than 12 Years of Age after a four-day trial in July. Assistant State Attorney Melissa Clark prosecuted the case.

“This defendant molested a young girl for three years,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said, according to the news release. “It is a horrific case of child sex abuse, but Teron will spend the rest of his life in prison and not hurt this victim or another child again.”
