Applications are open for the spring 2024 Flagler County Master Gardener Volunteers class.
The Flagler County University of Florida IFAS Extension office is accepting applications Sept. 1 through Oct. 31 for the training, which will be held Jan. 11 through April 18, 2024, according to a news release. Florida Master Gardener volunteers help people find practical gardening and landscape solutions to problems specific to living in Flagler County.
“Master gardener training includes classroom time, field trips and hands-on opportunities,” said Horticultural Extension Agent Judy Jean, according to the news release. “At the end of the class, students will qualify to become Certified Master Gardener volunteers and will have various opportunities to educate community members and work in the demonstration gardens.”
Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays at the Flagler County Extension office, at 150 Sawgrass Road in Bunnell. Topics will include plant propagation, hydroponics, soil science, fruit crops and more.
“We want people from all areas of the county to consider being trained and active. It’s a very rewarding experience,” Jean said.
