A Palm Coast cyclist was killed on County Road 302 at 6:55 a.m. on Sept. 15 when he was hit by two SUVs.

The man, 51, who was not wearing a helmet or reflective gear, died at the scene, a Florida Highway Patrol report said. The cyclist was going west on C.R. 302 in the westbound lane ahead of two SUVs that were also traveling west in that lane.

The first SUV hit the cyclist with its  passenger side mirror, knocking the 51-year-old off the bike and into the westbound lane. The second SUV, directly behind the first, hit the cyclist as he lay in the lane, the report said.

The FHP report noted that fog was present in the area at the time of the crash.
