The executive officer of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office's Community Policing Division has graduated from the Florida Sheriffs Association's Commanders Academy.
Cmdr. Bernard Woodward has worked at the FCSO since January 2004, a press release from the FCSO said. The September 2023 graduating class was the 13th to graduate from the two-week Commanders Academy and included personnel representing 34 Florida sheriff's offices.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said he is proud of Woodward's commitment to excellence.
"The leadership skills, problem-solving tactics and business ethics taught in the Commanders Academy help us to ensure quality service to the residents and visitors of Flagler County,” Staly said.
The Commanders Academy is recognized as the premier course of executive study for mid- to upper-level criminal justice leaders focused on the needs of Florida’s sheriff’s offices, according to the press release.
Commanders Academy Class 13 also raised more than $28,000 for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, the press release said. The donation will help support Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches' mission of preventing delinquency and developing resilient, productive citizens.
