Halifax Urban Ministries has issued a call to action to support a local who was recently diagnosed with a brain cancer.

Kenny Detig, has been involved with HM for the past 10 years, and is a figure in both the recovery and veteran support communities, according to a press release. He celebrated 33 years of recovery on July 26, and has dedicated his life to helping those in need.

"Many have seen Kenny at bike rallies in Daytona Beach and across the United States," HUM stated in the press release. "He has always pushed hard to raise funds to help those in need by selling raffle tickets to win latest Harley Davidson. Kenny's dedication to helping veterans, in particular, has been a hallmark of his work, aligning with HUM's goals of supporting those who have served the country."

In March, Detig was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

To assist in his battle with cancer, and help with extensive medical costs, donations can be made a through GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/5d8b1aba.
