The Ormond Memorial Art Museum received a $50,000 donation from local philanthropists Nancy and Lowell Lohman, announced during the museum's recent inaugural members dinner.
The donation will benefit the museum's Endowment Fund, according to a newsletter by OMAM.
“The Lohman’s generous gift has catapulted us toward achieving our goal of raising $100,000 this year for our Endowment Fund," OMAM Executive Director Stephanie Mason-Teague said in the newsletter. "We encourage all of you here to support this strategic goal of sustainability with your own donations, and we appeal to the community to do the same.”
At the dinner, the Lohmans were recognized with the museum's Malcolm Fraser Philanthropic Award for being
instrumental in helping with the museum's recent $4 million renovation. Nancy Lohman serves as a board member, organized fundraisers and co-chaired the capital campaign.
Two others were recognized during the dinner with awards for their help during the 18-month renovation period.
Artist and veteran Pamela Bleakney received the OMAM Champion Award for her contributions of creative, educational programs for adults and children at the museum, including sponsoring 13 kids to attend one of its summer camps.
Karen Zumwalde was recognized with the Mary Jane McSwain Garden Volunteer Award for donating her time and gardening talents to the museum for the past eight years.
