The city of Ormond Beach and its Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee commemorated MLK Day with its annual breakfast celebration on Monday, Jan. 15.
The breakfast, held in a "dine and dash" carry-out format, provided participants with grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and a biscuit, served at the Joe and Elwillie Daniels South Ormond Neighborhood Center at 176 Division. Ave. The city has celebrated MLK Day with a breakfast event for over three decades.
Breakfast deliveries were also made to those who couldn't attend the celebration in person.
MLK Committee Chairperson Tina Carlyle hopes next year's celebration can return to its pre-COVID-19 format, which featured speakers and dance performances.
In addition to Carlyle, this year's MLK Committee was composed of Belinda Davis, Bobbie George, Veronica Jones and Pastor George Ward.
