Palm Coast and Flagler County have unveiled a new activity at Linear Park that combines reading with outdoor activity.

It is called StoryWalk, a collaborative project meant to "enhance the community's access to literature and enhance the recreation at Linear Park," a Palm Coast press release said. The city and county unveiled their new initiative at 10 a.m. on Jan. 17 at Linear Park, located at 31 Greenway Court.

StoryWalk will begin at the Linear Park trailhead, continue onto St. Joe Walkway past the butterfly garden and then return to Linear Park, the press release said. Multiple kiosks have been installed along the trail, and the Flagler County Public Library will provide laminated copies of books that will be fixed to the kiosks for residents to peruse as they walk the trail.

The books featured at the kiosk will be swapped over monthly, the press release said.

"The idea is that families will read the selections as they walk from kiosk to kiosk, thus reading one entire book during their hike," Library Director Holly Albanese said. "It’s a great way to keep the children engaged.”
