Colored pencil on toned paper workshop

When: 12-3 p.m.

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: Priscilla Humay will teach participants how to use colored pencils on color toned papers. Drawing skills are encouraged. Class costs $45 for members; $50 for nonmembers. Visit ormondartmuseum.org.

Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club meeting

Where: 56 N. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach

Details: Join the Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club for its January meeting. Check-in and socializing will begin at 6:30 p.m. The focus of the meeting will be on club activities in 2024 in preparation for the November election, how to meet Democratic neighbors, and updates on local, state, and national issues. Arbor Day at the EDC

Details: Join the Environmental Discovery Center for its annual Arbor Day Celebration, recommended for children ages 7-12. There will be a tree planting with refreshments and crafts to follow. Space is limited. Call the EDC at 386-615-7081 to secure your spot.

Ormond Beach Garden Club Arbor Day celebration

When: 11 a.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach

Details: The Ormond Beach Garden Club will plant a native oak tree at The Casements in honor of Florida Arbor Day and the 100th anniversary of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. Visit https://www.facebook.com/RockfellerGardens.

Garden Club of Palm Coast Arbor Day tree planting

When: 11 a.m.

Where: Palm Coast City Hall,

Details: The Garden Club at Palm Coast joins the statewide celebration of Florida's Arbor Day and the 100th anniversary of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs with a tree planting ceremony at City Hall, outside lakefront at Town Center. A bald cypress tree will be planted, and there will be free wax myrtle tree seedlings given away to all attendees.

Yin yoga and essential oils class

When: 11 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: Chantelle Uitermark will lead this yin yoga class focusing on "vision" to seek clarity on where you want to go this year. Class costs $22 for museum members; $25 for nonmembers. Visit ormondartmuseum.org.

Free community concert

Where: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast

Details: Bobby Jo Valentine will perform a free concert, hosted by St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Valentine is a folk/pop singer and songwriter.

Honeybee Buzz: Heroes of our planet, making honey happen

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreational Area, 3100 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach

Details: Join beekeepers Bill and Barry for an educational program about how important honeybees are, Florida native "bee friendly" plants and what is involved in raising honeybees and harvesting the honey. Entrance into the park costs $5 per vehicle. 

A Great Rosy Glow: The story of Bulow Plantation Ruins

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park, 3501 Old Kings Road S., Flagler Beach

Details: Learn about the events that led to the destruction of one of the largest plantations in East Florida during the Second Seminole War. The program will include a half-mile roundtrip hike to view the ruins. Bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent and wear sturdy shoes. Program is free with park entry of $4 per vehicle. 

Well Read Wanderers

When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Palm Coast United Methodist Church, 1 Torino Drive at 6500 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast

Details: Join the Flagler County Education Foundation for a book reading of "The Long Shot" by Chris Paul, crafts, a basketball lesson and lunch. This is a literacy event for ages 4-8. Visit https://bit.ly/4aBDtlA.

Christian Unity concert

When: 12-3 p.m.

Where: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast

Details: Church choirs from around Palm Coast will perform a free concert. Offerings will go to the Family Life Center and the Sheltering Tree.

Watercolor workshop

When: 1-4 p.m.

Where: Ocean Art Gallery, 197 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: Learn to paint in watercolor with artist Bibi Gromling. You will learn how to use two different methods to mask the sea foam and seaweed before painting the background for a turtle hatchling painting. Class costs $75. All supplies are included. The Palmetto Club presents Casino Night

When: 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Where:  The Palmetto Club, 1000 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach

Details: Gamble to support the Palmetto Club's fundraising efforts for local charities. There will be full-size tables of blackjack and poker.Three comp tickets at door, with more for purchase. The Greatest Love of All: A tribute to Whitney Houston

When: 7 p.m.

Veterans Creative Expression workshop

When: 11 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: Veterans are invited to create a unique artwork with guidance from Outreach Curator Diamond Johnson. All supplies are provided, and no experience is needed. Flagler Schools Teacher and Employee of the Year Gala

When: 6-8 p.m.

Where: The Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center, 5500 State Route 100, Palm Coast

Details: Flagler Schools will honor its top teachers, employees and rookie teachers. This year's gala theme is "A Night of Legends." Free event. Open to the public.

Tiger Bay eco-buggy tour

When: 9:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Tiger Bay State Forest, 2201 Rima Ridge Road, Ormond Beach

Details: Forest rangers from the Florida Forest Service will discuss and demonstrate the use and benefits of prescribed fire in land management and willdland fuels reduction. Artist talk with Clare Radigan: creative process

Arts and crafts show

Details: Come join VFW Post 8696 for an arts and crafts show benefiting veteran programs. There will be a variety of craft vendors with handmade items plus a baked goods table.

Guns and Hoses Chili Challenge

When: 12-2 p.m.

Where: Veterans Park, 101 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach

Details: The Flagler Woman's invites the public to attend the Guns and Hoses Chili Challenge between first responders. For $10, attendees may sample all the various chilies and vote on which one is best for the fan favorite prize. There will be music, a bake sale and raffles. Battlefield to Bowtie charity gala

VFW Post 8696 free Vietnam veterans lunch

Details: In recognition of the signing of the Vietnam Peace Accord, VFW Post 8696 is inviting all Vietnam veterans to a free lunch consisting of a barbecue pulled pork sandwich and potato salad. Friends and family may attend as well for $9.50.
