Dear Editor:
In my travels around Ormond Beach, I have noted several locations where our U.S. flag is displayed on the same flagpole with that of another nation below. While I'm sure this was done with the best intentions to respect and honor the other country, the customary signal is the very opposite: The ship or forces of the lower flag have surrendered to that of the upper flag.
The clearest reference for proper display of two or more national flags I could find is at: https://.flagusa.com.
In summary: The flags of all nations should be displayed on separate poles of equal height. On U.S. soil, our flag should be displayed to the left of all others.
