The Tillandsia Garden Club donated two 7-gallon red mulberry trees to Tomoka State Park, planted on Florida Arbor Day, Friday, Jan. 19, in conjunction with the Friends of the Tomoka Basin State Parks and the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail National Byway.
The program was coordinated by OSLT, according to a statement to the Observer, and the local Pawpaw Chapter of the Native Plant Society also helped the garden club choose the tree species and how to go about the planting.
Members from both the OSLT and the Friends of the Tomoka Basin State Park helped plant the trees, under the direction of Tomoka Park Services Specialist David J. Jones.
"The Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks wishes to thank Katie Tripp with the Tillandsia Garden Club, Nancy Galdo, vice chair of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail, PSS David Jones and the members of [Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks] who were involved as well. Job well done to all," said James D. Fiske, president of the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks, on Facebook.
