"I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change."
That's the title for Halifax Repertory Theatre's upcoming production on the central theme of love and relationships at the Gillespy Theater at the News-Journal Center. There will be four shows of musical comedy, presented in the form of vignettes: 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3; and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4.
"This crowd pleasing comedy takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as the relationship," a press release states. "Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit."
The show features four performers: HRT
Executive Director Sandra Cook, HRT Producer Jack Cook, Corbin Eakes and Jennifer McGill, an equity guest artist from Nashville, Tennessee. McGill was also an original member of the Mickey Mouse Club.
Jack and Sandra Cook, of Ormond Beach, founded HRT in 2021 with the mission to revive live theater in the Ormond and Daytona Beach area. Recently, HRT renovated a studio space at 615 S. Yonge St. in Ormond Beach where auditions and rehearsals will be held. The company has started hosting master classes, workshops, voice lessons, piano lessons and dance classes. The Cooks also plan to bring a murder mystery dinner theater show to town.
