Two people have been arrested for robbing and attacking a 73-year-old man last month in the Plantation Pines neighborhood near Ormond Beach, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

VSO reports that Chelsea Wright, 34, of Holly Hill, and Andrew Marks, 33, of Ormond Beach, planned the Feb. 22 attack together, according to text messages uncovered by detectives.

On the day of the attack, the victim met with Wright at a Daytona Beach bar to discuss their romantic relationship, suggesting he come to Wright’s house. The victim followed Wright in his vehicle and during the drive, Wright stopped to pick someone up from the side of the road, according to VSO. She then continued driving, before stopping to drop the passenger off near a home. The victim then got out of his car to approach Wright’s vehicle, at which point the passenger, suspected to be Marks, hit the victim in the head with a hard metal object. Marks then allegedly stole the victim’s wallet and fled with Wright, leaving the victim bleeding on the ground.

The victim sustained injuries to his head, torso and arms, according to VSO.

Wright was arrested on Feb. 23 after she was pulled over for a traffic infraction and deputies found drugs in her car, a violation of her probation. Marks was located and arrested early Friday, March 1, in Holly Hill on charges of robbery with a weapon and aggravated battery on a victim over the age of 65.
