Jacquelyn Dollaway and her granddaughter Makayla were selected as Ormond Memorial Art Museum’s featured family from the museum’s March 1 Free Family Art Night event.
The pair were spending a "Grandma and Makayla" day and came to look at the gardens on the day of the event, hoping to see an art exhibit inside the museum as well, according to a statement to the Observer.
"Then we were happily surprised,” Dollaway said. “It was Free Family Art Night, so we stayed and made hats. We loved the art museum and the gardens. Makayla especially loved the turtles!”
The museum’s Family Art Night takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. on most first Fridays of the month. All art supplies are provided, and the program is sponsored in part by the Women United Volusia Chapter.
The next program is scheduled for April 5.
