Hurricane Milton's worst effects have moved past most of Volusia County, leaving sporadic rain and significant wind gusts, especially beachside, that are expected to subside by late this afternoon, according to a Volusia County press release.
According to the city of Ormond Beach's Hurricane Milton site, power outages are widespread and several roads are obstructed and impassible due to flooding. Residents are advised to stay off the roads and expect low-lying roads to be flooded.

Volusia County Fire Rescue and the Volusia Sheriff's Office urge the community to avoid non-essential travel. Many roads still have debris and standing water, posing significant hazards for drivers.
A curfew has been reinstituted throughout the county beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, and ending at 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
Eastbound traffic on bridges to the beachside were restricted beginning at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday due to sustained wind force. County officials are discouraging people from visiting the beach today. The storm's effects will create extremely hazardous conditions along the coast, particularly during high tide.
People who need non-life-threatening assistance should contact the Citizens Information Center at 866-345-0345.
