The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida has awarded three performing arts students with the Bernie G. Yvon Memorial Fund scholarships.

Matthew Angelaccio from Lake Zurich, Illinois, Michael Coppola from Skokie, Illinois and Emily Halfmann, of Marinette, Wisconsin, each received $1,500 scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year, a Community Foundation press release said. To date, the scholarship has awarded $1,500 scholarships to 33 performing arts students since its inception.

The Bernie G. Yvon fund was established in 2015 by the parents of Bernie Yvon, a Chicago-area actor who died in 2014. Yvon’s parents live in Ormond Beach and Steuben, Maine. The memorial fund makes scholarships annual in Yvon’s memory.

“These dedicated and ambitious young performers need the financial support to make their dreams come true,” Yvon’s father, Bernard Rene Yvon, said. “Bernie would have wanted them to have the same opportunity for a happy life that he had, and we believe this will help them achieve that goal.”

The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida is Florida’s oldest and largest community foundation and works to stimulate philanthropy to build a better community, the press release said.
