A Flagler Palm Coast student has recently died, according to a notice provided to FPC families from Principal Bobby Bossardet.

"It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of one of our students, a junior at Flagler Palm Coast High School," Bossardet wrote. "On behalf of our school, I extend my condolences to this beloved Bulldog student's family and friends."

Flagler Schools Communication Coordinator Don Foley told the Observer that Flagler Schools is not releasing any additional information.

Over email, a Flagler Sheriff's Office public affairs officer confirmed a death investigation is in progress but could not release additional information.

Bossardet wrote that the school has implemented a crisis response plan and has prepared faculty and staff to support the students while keeping regularly scheduled activities and classes in place.

The following resources are available to students and families, according to the notice:

  • Counseling Services: There are additional counselors on campus this week to provide support to students.
  • Mobile Response Team: The SMA Crisis Triage and Treatment Unit is available 24 hours a day for direct support at 1-800-539-4228 or https://smahealthcare.org/switcher/crisis-flagler-access-center
  • Ongoing Counseling Services: If you feel that your student needs ongoing mental health counseling, please reach out to the district social work team at 386-437-7526, extension 1320.

"This tragedy reminds us of the importance of supporting one another. I encourage you to have an open conversation with your student as they process this information," Bossardet wrote. "Myself and the entire Bulldog family are always here to support in any way."

This is a developing story.
