The Flagler Sportfishing Club 'kids4reel' has formed a fishing club partnership with Matanzas High School.

The club made a financial donation and donated fishing equipment to the school's Pirate Bounty Fishing Club at a ceremony at the school on Aug. 29, according to a press release from kids4reel. MHS Principal Kristin Bozeman and teacher Kim Hall thanked kids4reel and said that they are eager to add the fishing club program to their existing marine science curriculum.

Science, safety, conservation, as well as fishing techniques and regulations will be emphasized to students during fishing outings and in the classroom.

FSC Treasurer Deb Marinco and volunteers Danny Carter Jeff Murphy all expressed their enthusiastic support for the club's first high school partnership, the press release said. Crescent Watersports Captain Dru Williams has also offered pro bono fishing charters to selected students during the academic year.
