The Florida Skin Cancer Institute has opened in Palm Coast.

It is a state-of-the-art cancer facility that treats skin cancer using innovative low-energy radiation therapy and other techniques instead of surgery, a Florida Skin Cancer Institute press release said. The Florida Skin Cancer Institute offers consultations, skin cancer screenings, mole mapping, skin biopsies, cryosurgery, and transdermal ozone therapy.

Florida Skin Cancer Institute is the only center in the region with automated total body mapping, which has AI technology that can detect changes in moles and other skin lesions to catch developing skin cancer early, the press release said.

The Institute uses Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Therapy and is the only center in the area with a HOCATT machine. It helps reduce side effects from cancer treatment, speed wound healing, and is known to inactivate viruses, bacteria, yeast, fungi, and parasites, the press release said.

Dr. Johnny Bernard Jr. is the Institute's local board-certified radiation oncologist. He specializes in treating cancer with radiation and has lived in Palm Coast since 2014.

Bernard completed residency training in radiation oncology at the internationally renowned Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He has a particular interest in treating skin cancer, and is the only radiation oncologist in the area with additional certification in skin cancer medicine.

The facility is located at 6029 Old Kings Rd. and is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 386-229-5910 or visit its website at floridaskincancer.com.
