Ormond MainStreet Past President Nancy Niewiaroski Cortez was named the Florida Main Street Volunteer of the Year at the 2024 Preservation on Main Street Conference last week in Tallahassee, a press release announced Thursday.
Cortez, a real estate agent with Adams, Cameron and Co. Realtors and a resident of Ormond Beach, has served on the Ormond MainStreet Executive Board for over 15 years, including serving as president from 2020-2023. During this time, the press release states, Cortez has spearheaded and helped execute the nonprofits large fundraisers, including Taste of Ormond, the Celtic Festival and the Riverfest Seafood Festival. Cortez also serves as the Ormond MainStreet volunteer coordinator, a role she created that works to secure and schedule over 100 volunteers at times for a single event, and leads historic tours with the Ormond Beach Historical Society.
Nancy is involved in every aspect of our organization’s efforts," Ormond MainStreet Executive Director Becky Parker said in the press release. "She serves on every single OMS committee, including Executive Committee (as immediate past president), all event committees, Economic Vitality, Design and the Merchants committees. She even serves on all subcommittees and focus groups."
John Adams, president of Adams, Cameron & Co., Realtors, also has served on the Ormond MainStreet Executive Board for over 15 years and has worked with Cortez for most of her 19 years in his company.
“Nancy’s energy and commitment to whatever she does is such a force in our community," Adams said. "Her tireless efforts to shine a light on Ormond Beach comes through in both her career and her volunteer work.”
