The Ormond Beach Police Department, with assistance from several local law enforcement agencies, conducted a citywide traffic enforcement operation aimed at improving road safety and reducing dangerous driving behaviors.

Key results:

  • 158 traffic stops
  • 211 uniform traffic citations issued
  • 57 warnings given
  • 6 criminal traffic citations issued
  • 2 DUI arrests made

The operation was supported by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Daytona Beach Police Department, New Smyrna Beach Police Department, Edgewater Police Department, Holly Hill Police Department, and South Daytona Police Department.

Officers focused on high-risk areas throughout Ormond Beach.

Why traffic operations are effective?

  1. Increase awareness: Drivers are more mindful of their speed, seatbelt use and adherence to traffic laws when enforcement is visible in the community.
  2. Prevent accidents: Targeted enforcement in high-risk areas deters dangerous driving behaviors, reducing the likelihood of accidents caused by speeding, impaired driving or distractions.

“This operation is a prime example of the collaborative efforts that enhance public safety across our communities,” Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey said. “It is everyone’s responsibility to keep each other safe and look out for one another.”
