Two North Carolina fugitives were arrested in Palm Coast on March 25 when Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies used new technology to identify them.
Cleveburn Coleman, 55, and Shannon Hodge, 40, were pulled over during a traffic stop. Coleman, who was driving, gave deputies a fake name and a Maryland's driver's license, according to a FCSO press release. The license had a "doctored image" of Coleman.
The deputies ran the name through the Electronic License and Vehicle Information System which is the latest technology available to FCSO deputies for identifying suspects, the press release said. The ELVIS database showed the name and Maryland ID that Coleman gave deputies were for a different man.
When questioned, Hodge gave deputies a fake name for herself and a second fake driver's license with Coleman's photo on it, which also turned up as false in the ELVIS database. When deputies searched the vehicle, they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside, the press release said.
Eventually, Hodge provide her and Coleman's real names and IDs. The two were wanted out of North Carolina for larceny, the press release said. The two suspects were arrested and taken to the Flagler County jail.
Both Coleman and Hodge are facing additional drug and drug paraphernalia charges, as well as several charges of providing a false name and possessing a fake ID.
