A 16-year-old Matanzas High School student was arrested on April 2 after he punched the school's resource deputy in the face.
At 2:50 p.m., as school was being dismissed for the day, the deputy saw a fight between two male students, a FCSO press release said. The deputy got between the two teenagers and one of the students punched the deputy in the face.
The student is was arrested and has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. The deputy was unharmed, the press release said. Flagler Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore said she was glad the deputy was not seriously injured.
"We have a zero-tolerance policy and will not tolerate this kind of behavior on our campuses," she said.
