Our beloved mother and grandmother, Johanne Dillon, passed away on January 30, 2025, after a short illness. She was 82.
She was born in Prospect, CT to the late Konrad and Irene (Thayer) Tauber.
Johanne was married for 61 years to her high school sweetheart, John “Jack” Dillon, who preceded her in death.
After graduating from Wilby High School, (where she was crowned the Queen of the Prom) she proceeded to earn an Associate’s Degree from Quinnipiac University.
Johanne went on to work in one of the medical offices of St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as various Realty Offices, in addition to working as a technician in an optometrist office.
When she had her children, she decided to dedicate her life to being a wonderful mother where family came first. During this time, she also loved tending to her gardens. In later years, she managed Jack’s Offset Printing Shop in Waterbury for a number of years.
As her husband was very active as a Mason and Shriner, Johanne was a member of the various women’s auxiliary groups of these fraternal organizations, holding numerous leadership positions.
Johanne was known for her warm and caring personality. Johanne and Jack loved to travel, as well as holding parties with their many friends. They both enjoyed spending time on their boat, entertaining friends and family on the “Princess Alanna”.
Johanne and Jack moved to Palm Coast, FL in 2008. Where they quickly made many new friends and hosted visits for their numerous CT friends.
She leaves behind a son, John Dillon, Jr (Linda) of Bethel Park, PA and a daughter, Lynn Dillon of Palm Coast, FL. She was “Mimi” to her granddaughter, Alanna DePaola (Matt) of Sandy Hook, CT. She also leaves behind her brother, Konrad Tauber (Louise) of Palm Coast, FL, and Brother-in-Law, Michael Ward, of Trumbull, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews and her faithful furry companion, Buddy.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Darlene Tauber and Marlene Prouty, her sisters-in law Patricia Ward, and Lola Dillon, as well as brother-in-law Thomas Dillon.
Johanne’s kindness and compassion touched the lives of many. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There will be no services, but instead share a memory of Johanne and raise a glass in celebration of her journey home.
Memorial Contributions can be made in honor of Johanne F. Dillon to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, an organization very close to her heart.
