A former contracted nurse at New Smyrna Beach High School was rearrested on Feb. 12, following an investigation by the New Smyrna Beach and Ormond Beach police departments into the nurse's relationship with a student.
Joshua Leggett, 50, of Daytona Beach, was first arrested in December 2024 by OBPD after traveling to Ormond Beach to meet a juvenile student after she got off work, according to a Facebook post shared by law enforcement. The student's parents saw her get in his car and called police, who found them together in the vehicle.
OBPD and NSBPD then launched an investigation, which led to additional charges of Offense Against Student by Authority Figure and Indecent, Lewd, or Lascivious Touching of Certain Minors by Authority Figure.
He was transported to the jail, and his bond was set at $100,000.
