The Flagler County Sheriff's Office arrested a 47-year-old Palm Coast man after a juvenile family member reported she was being abused to her school guidance counselor.

According to the FCSO, the school guidance counselor contacted the school resource deputy to report the student's abuse on Feb. 11. An investigation was opened, and detectives spoke with the victim, who said Kristopher Henriqson had been abusing her over several years.

Based on the victim's statement, evidence located by Major Case Unit detectives and members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the FCSO obtained an arrest warrant for Henriqson, who had refused to provide his location, according to a press release. The FCSO used its Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, and with the help of the Real Time Crime Center, the Communications Center, and deputies in the Community Policing Division, Henriqson was found as he traveled southbound on Interstate 95. The FCSO alleges he was attempting to flee Flagler County.

"I want to commend this young victim for the courage in coming forward and sharing their story with a trusted guidance counselor," Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in the press release. "The details of this case are beyond horrifying, and it took a lot of bravery for this child to report the abuse they endured for years taking this child’s innocence away so that we could hold this pervert accountable."

Henriqson was arrested for the following charges: Capital Sexual Battery, Sexual Battery by Familial or Custodial Authority, and Lewd or Lascivious Battery. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.

After detectives searched his home, they found 3.8 pounds of marijuana, leading to additional drug related charges.

In the press release, Staly advocated for Henriqson to receive the death penalty.

"I believe that is the only penalty he should get," Staly said. "I pray for our victim that she receives the support and therapy that she needs from these vicious crimes that were at the hand of this pervert she trusted as a child."
